Aches, random pains and that tired feeling that never goes away seem to be part and parcel of living and working in today’s society. We often turn to ‘instant fixes’ like painkillers and pills to try and make them go away, but in the back of our minds we know they’re not permanent solutions, and very often not that healthy either.

What if I told you there was a better, more natural way of not only relieving such symptoms, but possibly getting rid of them completely?

First, we need to understand where pain comes from.

How we feel pain
Pain is an uncomfortable sensation that our bodies send to our brains in order to signal that something is wrong. The signal travels through our nervous system and tells us where the problem area is.

Pain can be caused by many factors, eg
~A laceration ie, a cut or would in our body
~Foreign objects, that should not be in our bodies
~Nerve compression, as is the case in Sclerosis, where bones or other objects press against the nerves
~Inflammation, such as an infection like sore throats
~Chronic degeneration, which occurs as our bodies age and get weaker
~The problem with pain is that, even after we have acknowledged where the signal is coming from, it does not turn off. So even if you know your lower back has an issue, the pain will continue for days, weeks or even months unless you manage to relieve it.

In some cases, we may not even be able to tell why the pain is happening, and be unable to really treat it.

Fibromyalgia (FM or FMS) is a very common disease. Sufferers feel widespread pain, along with fatigue, sleep disturbance, and joint stiffness. The pain may occur in multiple locations like head, shoulders, upper back, waist and hips.

If it sounds like something most desk-bound workers suffer, you are right. Because the symptoms are so common, it’s hard to diagnose or treat.

Chronic fatigue
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) is characterised by fatigue and other related symptoms that lasts for months in adults. It’s not because of exertion, like a recent session of heavy exercise, and doesn’t go away with rest. You may feel muscle and joint pains, sever headaches, mental and physical exhaustion, and nothing goes away even after sleep.

People with such issues are faced with 2 concerns – they need to find a way to solve the root of the pain, but at the same time they also want immediate relief from the pain. In the meantime, their movement, productivity at work, and general sense of happiness is affected.

Vibration Therapy can help with both aspects.

Pain Relief
Rehabilitation physicians use a treatment called Transcutaneous Electronic Nerve Stimulation (TENS) to treat acute and chronic pain.

The treatment works because the transmission of pain and the transmission of vibration use the same afferent nerve. By using vibration, the treatment effectively blocks the pain signals in the nerve with its own vibration signal.

The experimental results of this treatment has been very successful.

In 1983, a study involving over 700 patients suffering from acute and chronic pain showed 70% experienced pain remission.

In Tokyo University, Japan, a test with women suffering from osteoporosis proved that Whole Body Vibration provided relief from back pain.

Remember when I mentioned earlier that pain sufferers are looking to remedy both the cause of the pain, as well as immediate relief?

The key is using low-frequency, low intensity controlled vibration. This is especially so in cases of FM or CFS, where the neuromuscular dysfunction can be relieved via the overtaking of the afferent nerve that’s responsible for pain transmission.

On top of that, using a machine such as our Whole Body Vertical Vibration (WBVV) devices has the added benefit of possibly treating the root symptoms that are causing the pains and aches in the first place. WBVV also strengthens muscle, bones, and reduces body fat, all of which are contributing factors to common sources of pain and fatigue.

The best part of using a WBVV machine is that it takes no effort whatsoever. You just need to stand on the machine for between 10-20 minutes per session. There is no physical strain, heavy impact or effort, and the treatment is suitable for children, adults and the elderly.
